Partners In Education
Partners in Education (PIE) brings business and education leaders together in an innovative program designed to make sure all students leave school with the academic, technical and employability skills necessary to be successful in the 21st Century workplace. Through PIE, educators and business leaders visit each other’s workplace to develop ways to integrate real-life skills into the school curriculum. The group also educates students, administrators and teachers as to what kinds of jobs are available in Greater Hazleton. It isn’t unusual to see a human resources manager or even a CEO talking to students and educators about everything from how to write a resume to what a specific company is looking for in an employee.
WorkKeys
WorkKeys® is an assessment tool created by ACT that tests an individual’s work skills and provides easy-to-comprehend results for employers. While there are many different WorkKeys® assessments available, Pennsylvania is most interested in the WorkKeys® assessments that lead individuals to a Career Readiness Certificate. A Career Readiness Certificate is achieved by taking the Reading for Information, Locating Information, and Mathematics assessments. Individuals receive a numerical score for each assessment. All “3s” in the above assessments lead to a bronze certificate, all “4s” to a silver, and all “5s” to a gold. While other assessments may gauge where an individual is academically and assign a grade level or reading level, WorkKeys® assessments’ scores translate directly to the workplace, and questions are geared towards “real-world” work situations. WorkKeys® assessments are available in CareerLink® offices throughout Pennsylvania.
Tec Bridge
TecBridge is a regional collegial organization that collaboratively strives to create and embrace entrepreneurial opportunities with the purpose of growing technology and biotechnology wealth within Northeastern Pennsylvania.
TecBridge focuses on harnessing the intellectual capital, energy, and passion of young professionals by tapping the abilities of business, academia, government, and economic development of technological, biomedical and natural resource related opportunities of the region, acknowledges those who excel in these areas, and supports the education of those who will lead the region’s knowledge based economy of tomorrow.
TecBridge is recognized as a center of innovative entrepreneurial activity and knowledge-based industrial growth. The purpose is to assist in leading the region to an improved economy. This will be accomplished through collaboration among members, judicious utilization of resources, engagement of the public and private sector, and outreach programs, especially within the entrepreneurial sector.
