Spearheaded by CAN DO’s Student Action Committee, “Operation: CAN DO” is a collection drive of food, personal care and entertainment items to be sent to local military personnel stationed overseas. The drive is held in partnership with the Freeland American Legion each fall so the packages are received in time for the holidays.
The Student Action Committee is made up of local high school students appointed to serve on the CAN DO board of directors. Students serving on the committee, along with members of the Freeland Builders Club, join together one evening to take the thousands of items collected to American Legion Post 473 in Freeland. The items are then placed into packages and delivered in time for the holidays to troops with local ties who are serving in the Middle East.
Items are delivered to the Freeland American Legion Post #473 for mailing to the soldiers.
